Mifuneyama Rakuen autumn illumination in 2026 is confirmed for November 6–December 6. Day entry runs 08:00–17:30 and Tamayura no Yube runs 17:30–22:00, including rainy days. The planning priority is to separate natural foliage, evening lighting, the hotel’s year-round indoor teamLab exhibition, any unannounced outdoor art event and hotel-guest privileges.

A day-only or night-only ticket costs JPY600 for junior-high age and above and JPY300 for elementary children. The combined ticket is JPY900 and JPY400. Guests of Mifuneyama Rakuen Hotel and Onyado Chikurintei enter the garden without the standard admission charge. The event dates are not a peak-colour guarantee.

Operation / use

Best version

Risk / backup

Free shuttle on event Saturdays, Sundays and Japanese public holidays

Takeo-Onsen North Exit ↔ garden, 08:00–22:00, about three round trips per hour, no reservation

Daylight, dusk and night; still save an earlier JR backup

Never apply the weekend shuttle to a weekday or depend on the final shuttle plus final train

Weekday JR Kyushu bus

South Exit toward Ureshino; alight at Mifuneyama Rakuen

Daylight or an earlier exit after checking the dated timetable

Night service is more fragile; weekend shuttle frequency is not weekday evidence

Licensed taxi

Takeo-Onsen Station ↔ garden; live supply and fare must be checked

Weekday, missed bus or a group sharing the fare

Do not assume night capacity; retain a Takeo overnight fallback

Takeo overnight

Check in/store luggage, protect dinner, see the illumination, return for daylight colour next morning

Lowest-risk day-and-night version; solves dark slopes, luggage, dinner and final transport

Garden-side inventory is small and expensive; station/onsen areas offer more flexibility

Choose daylight, dusk or night

Visit

Arrival

Best use and limitation

Daylight

08:00–09:30

First visit, seniors, families, natural colour and visible terrain

Dusk plus night

60–90 minutes before sunset

Natural light and illumination; confirm clear-out and re-entry

Night only

After 17:30

Reflections and lighting; highest cold, slope and return risk

Daylight reveals gradients, wet leaves, rest points and real colour. Dusk offers the strongest single visit, but a combined ticket does not prove continuous access through the transition; confirm the current clear-out and re-entry rule before purchase. Night-only works best for travellers staying in Takeo or those who have already seen the garden.

Mifuneyama Rakuen pond, garden and mountain landscape in autumn

Foliage, illumination and teamLab are separate products

The foliage festival is a natural-garden visit; Tamayura no Yube is the evening lighting route. The indoor teamLab exhibition inside Mifuneyama Rakuen Hotel has a separate viewing system and must not be assumed to be part of a garden ticket. The historical outdoor Forest Where Gods Live was another seasonal project, and no previous date or price should be presented as a 2026 autumn event without a current official announcement.

Hagino-o Tea House guest hours, its bar, Rakan no Yu and private paths attached to selected rooms are hotel or room-category benefits. A general ticket does not create access to every item mentioned on the property website.

Mifuneyama Rakuen entrance and the separation between daytime and evening routes

Walking, wheelchairs, photography and rain

Allow 60–90 minutes for a standard circuit and more than two hours during foliage crowds, photography and night queues. Two steep slopes become slippery after rain. Seniors, young children and wheelchair users should prioritise the entrance, pond and principal maple zone instead of treating the complete circuit as mandatory.

Wheelchairs are limited, and the accessible return from the Hagino-o area follows the entrance direction rather than the stair exit. Do not assume every stroller can use every dark path. Drones are prohibited. Where tripod, selfie-stick, flash or commercial-shooting rules are incomplete, ask the garden before bringing equipment. Use grippy shoes and a waterproof layer.

Takeo-Onsen Station and regional transport

On Saturdays, Sundays and Japanese public holidays during the event, the official free shuttle operates between Takeo-Onsen Station North Exit and the garden from 08:00 to 22:00, approximately three round trips per hour without reservation. Never assume the same service on a weekday. Weekday options are the JR Kyushu bus from the South Exit toward Ureshino, alighting at Mifuneyama Rakuen, or a licensed taxi.

A daylight trip from Fukuoka is straightforward: take an early train, store luggage, visit the garden and leave before night transport becomes fragile. A day-and-night trip needs the shuttle, taxi and at least one earlier rail backup saved offline. Nagasaki and Saga are closer than Fukuoka in some itineraries but still need the garden-to-station last mile. Keep large luggage at the station or hotel.

Takeo-Onsen Station platform and rail connection for Mifuneyama Rakuen

Three workable timelines

Daylight: enter between 08:00 and 09:30, use the pond and principal maple area first, complete the steeper section before lunch and move to Takeo Onsen or the station in the afternoon. Dusk: reach Takeo around midday, store luggage, eat early and enter 60–90 minutes before sunset. Overnight: use the first evening for illumination and the following morning for natural foliage, separating crowd and weather risk.

A Fukuoka night day trip is suitable only with a defined return. If the plan depends on the final shuttle, an available taxi and the final train in sequence, the failure risk is too high. A Takeo night is not merely comfort; it resolves the dark slope, dinner, luggage and final-transport problem.

Takeo overnight, garden-side stay or Ureshino

The lowest-risk pattern is one night in Takeo: check in, protect dinner, see the illumination, then return the next morning for natural colour, Takeo Onsen or onward travel. Mifuneyama Rakuen Hotel and Onyado Chikurintei minimise night transport and add guest benefits, but inventory is small, prices are higher and meal or shuttle conditions are strict.

The station area is best for rail, luggage and flexible dining. The old onsen district provides atmosphere. Ureshino works for a two-day hot-spring trip but the ryokan dinner and late return must be arranged in advance. Mifuneyama Rakuen Hotel has no lift, and its station shuttle has fixed periods and reservation deadlines; international guests should request written confirmation of stairs, meal time and transfer.

International ticket and payment checks

The headline admission is inexpensive; the larger risk is purchasing or assuming the wrong product. Enter sales from the official event page and confirm date, day/night validity, child age, payment, cancellation and whether the ticket is garden admission rather than teamLab or a hotel package.

Hotel-guest admission needs written confirmation of the eligible stay dates, party and access period. It does not automatically include every art exhibition, bath, tea-house period or private path. When the English booking surface is incomplete, retain an email or hotel-message confirmation.

Tickets, final transport and backup plan

The official site currently establishes dates, hours and basic admission, but online sales, timed slots, sell-outs, re-entry, clear-out, final admission and full equipment rules must be checked again. International travellers should enter ticketing only from the official site, save any QR code offline and confirm foreign-card or 3D Secure requirements when a digital product appears.

Early colour becomes a garden, mountain and onsen visit; fallen leaves retain the lighting and hot spring but reduce foliage expectations. Heavy rain or wind shortens the dark slopes. Rail disruption, a missed shuttle or unavailable taxi becomes a Takeo overnight. On weekdays without the free shuttle, use the fixed bus or taxi. Travellers unable to use dark gradients should remain in the entrance and pond zones.
