Sera Flower Farms: Hanayume no Sato or Sera Kogen Farm?

Hanayume no Sato and Sera Kogen Farm belong to the same flower-farm group, but they are separate parks in different parts of Sera. They feature different flowers, open on different seasonal schedules and require a drive between them.
The quickest way to choose is by visual style: Hanayume no Sato specialises in broad carpets of low-growing flowers across rolling hills, while Sera Kogen Farm offers larger displays with more varieties, heights and colours.

Which park should you choose?
Choose Hanayume no Sato for
Pink moss phlox covering entire hillsides.
Pale-blue nemophila and softer, dreamier colour palettes.
Hydrangeas, hollyhocks, kochia and cosmos in later seasons.
Wide landscapes, couple photographs and portraits.
Choose Sera Kogen Farm for
Large tulip fields in spring.
Sunflowers in summer.
Dahlias and chrysanthemums in autumn.
More flower varieties, close-up photography and a stronger exhibition-style layout.
The parks are not within walking distance
Hanayume no Sato is at 3-3 Kamitsuda, while Sera Kogen Farm is at 1124-11 Betsusako. The drive between them is roughly 25 minutes in normal conditions and can take longer on weekends and during Golden Week.
Treat them as two independent attractions. A full day with a car can include both, but neither is a small section inside a single garden.
Spring: moss phlox and nemophila versus tulips
Hanayume no Sato
The published 2026 moss-phlox and nemophila season runs from 28 March to 10 May, subject to flowering conditions. Around 40,000 square metres of hillside is used for the spring display.
Moss phlox grows close to the ground, creating broad pink, white and purple carpets. Nemophila adds softer blue sections. This is the stronger choice for wide-angle scenery and portraits.
Sera Kogen Farm
The published 2026 Tulip Festival runs from 10 April to 6 May. Around 750,000 bulbs are planted across approximately 65,000 square metres.
The tulips create clearer rows, patterns and height than moss phlox. Choose this park if you prefer strong colours, varied cultivars and more detail at close range.
Other seasons
Hanayume no Sato
Early June to early July: hydrangeas and hollyhocks.
Late August to mid-October: kochia and cosmos, changing from green summer scenery towards red autumn colour.
Sera Kogen Farm
Late March to early April: weeping cherry blossoms and rapeseed flowers.
Late July to late August: sunflowers. The published 2026 season runs from 25 July to 23 August.
Mid-September to early November: dahlias and chrysanthemums, with the 2026 event listed for 12 September to 3 November.
Always check the current bloom report. The named event period can cover several stages, and the scenery at the beginning may look completely different from the final weeks.
Can you visit without a car?
It is possible, but Sera is not an area where regular public transport lets you move freely between farms. The Peace Liner highway bus connects Hiroshima Bus Center with Sera, but reaching the town does not mean reaching each flower park.
Seasonal flower-tour buses may operate on selected weekends and public holidays. Outside those dates, a taxi or rental car is usually required for the final section.

Confirm which farm it serves.
Check whether advance booking is required.
Confirm how much time the tour allows at each garden.
Do not assume both parks are included.

Why driving is easier
Driving lets you combine both parks, change the order according to bloom conditions and avoid being locked to a tour schedule. Sera Kogen Farm is roughly 14 kilometres from Sera Interchange, while Hanayume no Sato is about 21 kilometres away.
Arrive early on peak spring weekends. Parking queues, tour groups and midday light affect the experience as much as the official bloom percentage.
